Ford and Ginett Presenting on Telehealth for CHRMS this Friday

On Friday, November 20, 2020, HPS Partners Ann Ford and Laura Ginett will present at the Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society's (CHRMS) Annual Risk Management and Patient Safety Day. This event is digital due to COVID-19.

Their presentation, "Telehealth: A New Frontier in Healthcare Delivery," will cover the development of telehealth, how its delivery and regulation have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic and the opportunities and risks that those changes have brought.

Ms. Ford, who has experience as a hospital general counsel and a compliance officer for an international medical technology company, will talk about the development of telehealth and how its uses have expanded in response to COVID-19. Her focus will be on the regulatory challenges that face providers and how they can be engaged as telehealth expands to combat the pandemic.

Ms. Ginett will focus on the risks of medical malpractice litigation that may face telehealth providers. She will explain the complex intersection of standards of care, Federal guidelines, State guidelines and telehealth. She will also discuss immunity related to COVID-19. Ms. Ginett has represented hopsitals, skilled nursing facilities and individual care-givers since 1986.

Both Ms. Ford and Ms. Ginett have been working with facilities and healthcare networks regarding telehealth throughout 2020. In May, they participated with HPS Partner April Walkup in a webinar developed with a Partnership for a Connected Illinois, which focused on Using telehealth in long-term healthcare facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHRMS members and non-members can attend Ms. Ford and Ms. Ginett's presentations by registering and paying the associated fee. Ms. Ford and Ms. Ginett present at 1:00 PM.

Disclosure: Ms. Ford is on the Board of Directors of a Partnership for a Connected Illinois.
