| Kelly McDermott was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2007 and concentrates her practice in medical malpractice and product liability defense. She received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. In addition to receiving her J.D., Kelly also earned a Health Law Certificate from Saint Louis University's Center for Health Law Studies, recognized as the number one health law program in the country. She concentrated her legal studies on liability issues involving hospitals, doctors, manufacturers, and insurance companies, and additionally studied regulatory and compliance matters pertaining to health law issues. In addition to defending various hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice matters, Kelly has experience defending corporations in product liability litigation brought in various federal jurisdictions. She understands the many challenges posed by electronic discovery and the federal procedural issues inherently involved in such cases, and works to navigate these issues to achieve the best results for her clients. Kelly has worked in a variety of legal settings, working throughout law school as a law clerk in litigation defense and family law. In addition, she interned with the Medical Litigation Division of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specializing in the analysis of medical malpractice claims.
