| Jennifer Ries-Buntain is a trial attorney with experience in professional liability, general negligence, commercial litigation, and environmental litigation. She specializes in the defense of health care providers, including hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other medical institutions. Jennifer has particular expertise in cases involving obstetrical malpractice. She has defended a wide range of both state and federal claims involving private parties and governmental entities. These include medical negligence, insurance coverage, products liability, premises liability, battery, defamation, and breach of confidentiality. Jennifer has extensive trial experience. As part of national "s.w.a.t" teams for firm clients, Jennifer has been involved with trials in multiple states. Jennifer is experienced with every phase of trial work. In the early years of her career she received extensive experience in examining witnesses in the multiple cases she has tried with David Hall and Eric Schoonveld. Her experience includes co-chairing several catastrophic injury cases, including one which was the first of its kind to be tried (and won) in that jurisdiction. She has first-chaired a number of cases which have gone to trial in Illinois and Utah. Despite being comfortable with trying cases, Jennifer recognizes the value of, and has participated in, obtaining timely and efficient alternative resolutions for her clients. Dispositive motions are tools that she looks for opportunities to use, successfully narrowing issues for her clients. Jennifer is one of the original thirteen attorneys who started Hall, Prangle, & Schoonveld, LLC. as a spin-off of the former large Chicago law firm of Lord, Bissell, & Brook, LLP (now Locke, Lord, Bissell & Liddell).
