| Mike Tarpey is a trial lawyer, specializing in the defense of catastrophic product liability and medical negligence claims. Mike's clients inlcude leading truck and auto manufacturers, industrial equipment manufacturers, leading hardware corporations and top university hospitals in the Chicago metropolitan area. For the past 20 years, Mike has been considered by his clients as a "go to" guy for trial resulting in many successful defense verdicts in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to, product liability, medical malpractice, construction, breach of contract, insurance coverage, railroad and the FELA and transportation. Mike has also handled multiple mediations and arbitrations as well as arguments before the First District Appellate Court of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Mike has been identified by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of product liability and medical malpractice. Mike has achieved the highest rating possible by Martindale Hubbell's peer review system and has been elected in to the Illinois Society of Trial Lawyers and the International Association of Defense Counsel. Most recently, Mike was nominated for election in to the American Board of Trial Advocates and selected by Travelers Insurance as a member of it's Excess Claims Panel Counsel. In the past, Mike served on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Trial Lawyers Club. Prior to joining HPS in September 2008, Mike was a founding member of Donohue Brown Mathewson and Smyth, LLC from 1995 to 2008.
