Bret Jessee concentrates his practice on the defense of hospitals, long term care facilities and medical professionals against medical negligence claims.
He has tried medical malpractice cases to verdict in Cook and Will counties in Illinois as well as in Florida. Among those were defense verdicts in two wrongful death cases, a Stage IV pressure ulcer case and a bacterial endocarditis case.
In addition to his Chicago work, Bret is also a member of the HPS Florida team. There, he has represented hospitals, nurses and physicians in wrongful death, behavioral health, emergency care and pressure ulcer cases. He served as second chair in a recent trial victory in Fort Walton Beach, where HPS successfully defended their client against an emergency room wrongful death case.
Bret also serves as the firm’s acting hiring partner where he leads the hiring process of new and lateral attorneys - a critical component of the unique culture that HPS clients expect and deserve.
Prior to joining HPS, Bret was an associate at Baker & Enright in Chicago, a medical malpractice defense firm. Before attending law school, Bret worked as a newspaper journalist.
