HPS Denver Attorney, Casey Kannenberg, spent the past year as a member of the ABA YLD Host Committee, planning the organization’s 2017 Fall Conference to be held in Denver from October 5-7, 2017. Casey led the committee in arranging local activities in his home city. HPS is also a bronze sponsor of the Conference.
Aside from hosting duties, Casey serves as a co-Program Chair for a luncheon presentation titled, “Diversity and the Bench: Perspectives from the Colorado District Court, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court,” that will take place on October 6 at 1:00 p.m. This presentation ties into a recent article that Casey and the Honorable Lance Timbreza wrote, titled, “Diversity in the Colorado Judiciary,” that appeared in the October issue of the organization’s TYL publication.
Casey, along with current ABA YLD Chair Dana Hrelic, also coordinated a program for Friday morning titled, “Gun Violence in Today’s America: A Dialogue about the Role of Young Lawyers and the Organized Bar.” For this presentation, Casey was able to arrange for Tom Mauser, the father of a Columbine victim and policy advocate, to serve as the keynote speaker.
After the Conference, Casey will remain active in ABA YLD, continuing in his role as Assembly Speaker and as a member of the ABA YLD Council, Cabinet and Executive Committee.
