HPS Partner, April Walkup, co-presented “The Impact of The #MeToo Movement on the Healthcare Industry” at the 2018 Cayman Captive Forum in Grand Cayman on November 28, 2018.

April and her fellow speakers discussed how recent increased public scrutiny related to workplace harassment – known as the “#MeToo Movement” -has impacted how Healthcare entities respond to and manage issues of sexual harassment and hostile work environment. Topics discussed included management of relevant statistics, different types of workplace harassment, solutions and ways to manage potential claims.  Ms. Walkup discussed the importance of building awareness and changing the culture in the workplace to prevent such claims.

HPS Partner, April Walkup, focuses her practice in the areas of healthcare counseling and litigation as well as employment law.  She focuses on addressing the diverse legal issues that arise throughout the course of her clients’ daily business, both in the healthcare industry and beyond.  She has represented a variety of clients and industries, including: hospitals, nursing homes, hospice facilities, casinos, printing companies, trucking companies, municipalities, investment corporations and not-for profit agencies.  April earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School and her undergraduate degree from Purdue University.  She is admitted to practice in Illinois before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois, including the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District.
