The recent HPS expansion was featured in the April 1, 2015, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article, “10 med-mal lawyers join defense firm.” The article announced the addition of 10 new HPS attorneys to the firm's Healthcare Litigation practice and the launch of a Birth Trauma Defense Team. Those attorneys include: Marilee Clausing and Laura Ginett, new senior partners Amy Kane and Michele Anderson, partners Charles Bletsas and Aaron Ryan, and associates Katherine Dzik, Sabina Babel, Sapna Lalmalani, and Molly Pankauskas.
In the article, Clausing discusses the longstanding friendship and mutual respect between the senior attorneys of both firms, who had all worked together at Lord, Bissell & Brook (now Locke, Lord LLP). “That friendship and mutual respect is the foundation that will foster meaningful collaboration for our healthcare clients into the future,” she noted.
The article also explains the evolution of this move, which began as a conversation in January between friends and former colleagues, Clausing and David Hall, a name partner at HPS. They discussed their respective professional goals, which ultimately led to the group's decision to join HPS. As Jennifer Ries-Buntain, the firm's managing partner expained, "These conversations among friends turned into excitement about what we could create together."
Now that all 240 crates of their case files have arrived, Clausing notes, "It's business as usual."
