Jonquil Whitehead spent her career fighting for national and local medical corporations and providers. Her experience spans all aspects of litigation and trial, as well as the appellate process and argument before appellate and supreme courts. Jonquil has litigated various claims including medical malpractice, pharmaceutical products liability, toxic tort, professional liability, intentional tort, and general liability cases in both state and federal courts.
In addition to over ten years of experience in litigation and trial, Jonquil provides risk management support and general legal counseling for some of the largest medical corporations in the United States. Due to representation before several professional boards and litigating multiple general and regulatory issues, Jonquil has experience and knowledge in both how the law works and how certain decisions may impact liability down the road. She is continually working with her clients to improve and limit exposure through policies, practices and procedures.
Jonquil’s prior experience in engineering, led her to become co-editor on the MedTech Blog for HPS. She is focused on being at the forefront of the legal ramifications affecting the life science industry in order to guide her clients and offer experienced and knowledgeable legal advice.
Jonquil began her legal practice focusing on medical malpractice defense throughout Nevada. She has extensive experience in high exposure matters, including birth injury, neurologic injury, decubitus ulcers and wrongful death. Early in her career, Jonquil represented more than 15 nurses in the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada litigation resulting in over 200 individual cases. Her practice has since expanded to professional liability of dentists, physicians, and accountants and corporate liability. In addition to civil litigation, Jonquil appeared before the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners, Board of Medical Examiners, Board of Nursing and Board of Accountancy and successfully argued before the Nevada Supreme Court.
During law school, Jonquil was a member of the San Diego Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Jonquil studied aerospace engineering and won best senior design for her project on an aero-elastic wing design for the Predator unmanned air vehicle.
