Katherine Dzik concentrates her practice on the defense of hospitals, doctors, and other healthcare providers against claims of medical negligence. She has worked on cases involving various medical specialties, including labor and delivery, radiology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, and pediatric specialties. She now concentrates her practice primarily in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Kate’s legal career has focused exclusively on litigating medical malpractice matters, first on behalf of the plaintiff and now on behalf of the defense. This dual perspective allows her to anticipate the plaintiff’s approach while developing her defense, including pre-suit investigations, motion practice, witness preparation, issue identification and trial preparation. Her exhaustive work-up of a case includes detailed record review, research of medical literature and textbooks, and consulting with physicians and nurses who are experts in their field.
During their initial meeting, Kate works to reassure each client that they will be vigorously defended and their interests protected. On top of that, she also understands that complete representation requires more than experience, but demands informed guidance, advocacy and commitment. Kate’s approach demonstrates her ownership of the issues facing her clients, allowing them to focus on their medical practice instead of their legal matter.
Kate has obtained summary judgment and dismissals for doctors, hospitals, residents, and nurses. For her, professionalism and tirelessly defending her clients are not mutually exclusive. As a result, the credibility she has built in the legal community on both sides of the aisle has helped to best serve the needs of her clients.
