Marilee Clausing represents hospitals and healthcare providers in cases involving allegations of medical negligence, particularly those with catastrophic damages. She has a particular interest in matters related to birth trauma, neonatal and pediatric negligence, fueled by her years as an obstetrical nurse. Marilee’s clinical background uniquely complements her more than 30 years of legal practice. She has tried numerous catastrophic cases to verdict, including many involving birth trauma, neonatal and pediatric injury, death and neurological injury.
Marilee’s expertise in defending matters involving obstetrical and neonatal negligence led her to develop the Birth Trauma Defense Team at HPS. The combination of her clinical background and trial experience provides Marilee with uncommon insight into the medical and legal issues confronting clients in birth trauma cases. She is uniquely qualified to guide clients through the resolution of such high-stakes claims, whether that requires rapid investigation and early resolution, vigorous defense of a case through trial, or alternative dispute resolution.
In addition to her legal practice, as Managing Partner of HPS, Marilee provides leadership, direction and operational oversight to the firm nationally. She works with the Executive Committee and Equity Partnership to develop the vision and strategic plan for the firm, and oversees the implementation of that plan in all markets HPS serves. Central to that vision is an on-going commitment to excellence, tireless service to clients and the investment of time and training into the next generation of attorneys who are a vital part of HPS.
As a member of the catastrophic trial team Marilee Clausing is available to practice in all of our offices and across the country, on a case by case basis.
