Mike Shannon focuses his practice on defending hospitals and health care providers in the medical malpractice arena. In addition to nearly 20 years of work in the medical malpractice field, Mike has defended a wide range of corporate and insurance clients in commercial litigation, premises liability, and product liability matters.
Mike’s practice has included both trial and appellate work. And he has defended clients in arbitration and in various administrative settings, including before the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
Mike began his career as a labor and employment lawyer before moving into the area of insurance defense, joining the law firm of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP, where he was named a partner in 2008. During his time at Lewis Brisbois, Mike worked exclusively in the firm’s medical malpractice/professional liability group.
In 2011, Mike took an “of counsel” position with the Las Vegas firm of Hall Jaffe & Clayton, where his practice expanded. While continuing to represent hospitals and doctors in medical malpractice cases, Mike also defended large corporate clients, including multiple Las Vegas hotels, in premises liability and product liability cases. In 2012, Mike was named a partner in the firm, where he continued to practice for the next six years.
Mike joined the HPS team in 2018, and returned his primary focus to medical malpractice defense.
