Nevada: Prangle and Bemis Secure Defense Verdict in Infant Brain Injury Case in Nevada
HPS Partners Mike Prangle
and John Bemis secured a trial victory on behalf of their client, an acute care hospital in Clark County, NV. The Plaintiffs in the case alleged that the hospital failed to adequately protect a 16-month-old's airway, thereby causing permanent, catastrophic injury to the brain. Prangle and Bemis argued that the patient's airway was protected the entirety of her admission and that the unfortunate brain injury was due to a pre-existing, underlying medical condition. The Plaintiff sought $28M in future damages plus pain and suffering. After five hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the defense.
