Ronitha Maharaj has a multi-disciplinary litigation practice, with the defense of truck drivers, and trucking companies as well as the defense of medical professionals, hospitals and nursing home facilities.
Ronitha has defended trucking, coach line, bus line and railway cases involving catastrophic damages and product liability issues. While Ronitha has tried cases to verdict, her strength is reaching resolutions of high-value cases through mediation and other forms of alternate dispute resolution.
On the defense of hospitals, Ronitha has represented medical professionals, and other healthcare providers against medical negligence claims. She also concentrates in representing long-term care facilities.
Prior to joining HPS, Ronitha was a partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.
Ronitha clerked for the Court of Appeals in Arizona, and practiced commercial litigation in Arizona for four years. Upon licensing in Illinois, Ronitha has primarily focused on the defense of catastrophic damages in transportation law.
Ronitha worked in South Korea for two years, teaching English, prior to taking her LSATs in Seoul.
In addition, Ronitha was a social worker for four years, managing various residential treatment facilities and focusing on effective communication and child development.
