Sabina Babel

Sabina Babel concentrates her practice on the defense of hospitals, medical professionals, and other healthcare providers against medical negligence and premises liability claims. She has extensive practice in the defense of claims involving traumatic birth injury, pediatrics, failure to diagnose, and other complex litigation matters, which often result in significant catastrophic injuries and neurological complications. Sabina has been involved in all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-suit investigations and analysis, up to and including post-trial motions and appeals. She has second chaired numerous trials to verdict.

Sabina brings a unique perspective to her practice as a result of her prior work as a plaintiff’s attorney. With that position in mind, she analyzes the claims against her clients to best anticipate what approach the plaintiff’s side may argue, and prepares to defend against it. She welcomes the challenge to thoroughly investigate the medicine involved in each case, and her exhaustive research often leads to the development of unique and unanticipated causation defenses. Knowing litigation can often be stressful, Sabina exercises concerned ownership over the issues facing her clients to let them know their priorities are also hers. She strives to remain responsive and accessible to them throughout the entirety of their case.

While in law school, Sabina served as the Executive Editor of the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review.

In 2017, Sabina was recognized as one of the “Forty Under 40” Illinois Attorneys to Watch by Law Bulletin Publishing Company, publishers of Chicago Lawyer magazine and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin (CDLB). The list is the result of an annual survey conducted to determine who are the “most talented young attorneys practicing in Illinois.”

Sabina has also been selected by her peers for inclusion on the list of Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” from 2014 through 2019. From 2015 through 2019, Sabina has been recognized as an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers, which determines the top lawyers who are 40 years or younger and have proven themselves professional, ethical, and experienced at an early point in their legal career.
