Jay Spengler is a partner with the HPS Florida team who focuses on pro-actively defending hospitals and physicians throughout the state. He has represented healthcare clients in litigation involving birth-related injuries, wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, ER care, and healthcare providers with disciplinary proceedings in front of the Florida Department of Health.
He has also represented psychiatric clients and surgery centers and claims related to The Florida Birth Related Neurological Injury Compensation Plan administrated by NICA. Jay has extensive experience in defending general and premises liability claims and handling mediations involving complex medical legal issues.
Jay believes in working tirelessly for his clients and handling matters as efficiently as possible. He strives to provide thoughtful counsel and savvy legal representation designed to assist his clients in achieving the best possible result-whether by settlement or trial.
Prior to joining HPS, Jay spent 14 years at a notable Tampa defense firm dedicating the bulk of his practice to the defense of healthcare providers in complex medical negligence cases filed against hospitals, physicians and physician groups.
Before going into private practice, Jay spent six years serving in both the Illinois Attorney General and the Florida Attorney General representing both states in their respective civil litigation departments. During that time period he gained significant experience in a number of civil litigation areas including employment defense, civil rights, and auto accident and premises liability.
