Richard D. De Jong
BIOGRAPHY
Richard is a trial lawyer who concentrates his practice on healthcare litigation and general liability defense. He heads up the Reno/Northern Nevada Office of HPS in close connection with our long-established members of the Las Vegas Office. Richard is a Chicago native who has significant experience defending allegations of malpractice against individual healthcare providers and hospitals. This includes a broad range of specialties and areas of practice.
Prior to attending law school, Richard began his career in the ecommerce and tech fields and enjoys implementing out-of-the-box litigation tactics to aggressively defend and push back on the ever-evolving digital tactics employed by the plaintiff’s bar.
Richard began his legal career working as a plaintiff’s attorney at a firm that prosecuted only catastrophic healthcare injury claims. This experience provided him with valuable insight into the defense of claims against healthcare institutions. In 2019, Richard moved to Northern Nevada to assist in managing the substantial growth in the firm's legal practice in Northern Nevada.
Richard handles a wide variety of matters from catastrophic injury cases to board and municipal complaints. He also has extensive experience in the areas of construction, transportation, premises liability and product liability litigation. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Defense Counsel of Nevada.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, and spending time outdoors.
