BIOGRAPHY

Joe Ambrose is an Associate in HPS’ Chicago office and focuses his practice on the defense of healthcare organizations and providers.

Joe earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where he graduated with honors. During law school, Joe participated in various advocacy competitions, and worked as a student attorney in the Prisoner and Reentry Clinic. During the summer, Joe clerked for a Chicago-based complex civil litigation boutique firm.

A Michigan native, Joe grew up in East Lansing, MI. He earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy in 2017. After his undergraduate degree, Joe served two years as a Teach For America corps member, where he taught middle school science in Fort Worth, TX.

CDC Analysis of Maternal Mortality Suggests Four out of Five Deaths are Preventable

A recent study by the CDC suggests that approximately 84.2% of postpartum deaths are preventable. When the CDC viewed the statistics to determine whether a death was preventable, the CDC asked was “there at least some chance of the death being averted by one or more reasonable changes to patient, community, provider, facility, and/or systems factors.”
