HPS Partner Amy Kane, along with three other co-presenters, spoke at the Chicago Urological Society meeting on February 6, 2019, on the topic of medical malpractice. The speakers focused on why urologists get sued, risk prevention strategies to prevent lawsuits, understanding the process in the event of a lawsuit, and how insurance companies deal with malpractice claims. Amy underscored the importance of obtaining informed consent, documentation, and how the electronic medical record and other electronically stored information is used in lawsuits today.
