BIOGRAPHY

Ben Patterson has practiced with HPS since the firm opened its doors in 2002, and his exceptional track record of success at trial has played a crucial role in establishing the firm’s reputation as a courtroom powerhouse. He has secured dozens of verdicts on behalf of health systems and medical practitioners across the country.

Shortly after joining HPS, Ben helped establish the firm’s Las Vegas office. In 2010, he again helped the firm expand into a new region, this time Florida. He now manages the HPS office in Pensacola. Ben is board certified in Civil Trial Law in Florida, and he also practices in Illinois and Nevada, as well. He is a member of the firm’s elite Catastrophic Trial Team, which is available to represent clients anywhere in the country via pro hac vice admission.

Ben is based in Chicago, where he defends many area hospitals and healthcare institutions against claims of medical malpractice. His experience includes cases involving catastrophic birth injuries, wrongful death, paralysis and brain injuries, emergency-room care, labor and delivery, organ transplants, pressure sores, hospital fires, spoliation of evidence, and surgery.

Ben also has tried cases related to nursing homes and long-term care, product liability, premises liability, consumer fraud, civil rights issues, and legal malpractice. He has represented clients in both state and federal courts.

Before joining HPS, Ben spent the first decade of his legal career at Locke Lord, then called Lord Bissell & Brook.
