BIOGRAPHY
Ben Patterson is a founding member and senior partner of Hall Prangle.
His exceptional track record of success at trial has played a crucial role in establishing the firm’s reputation as a courtroom powerhouse. Since Hall Prangle opened its doors in 2002, Ben has tried over 45 medical malpractice jury trials in three states. He has secured dozens of defense verdicts on behalf of hospitals and healthcare professionals in Illinois, Nevada, and Florida.
Ben helped establish both the Hall Prangle Las Vegas office and the Hall Prangle Pensacola office. He became licensed in Nevada in 2003 and in Florida in 2010. He obtained multiple defense verdicts in both Nevada and Florida in medical malpractice cases involving catastrophic damages. Ben’s practice has always been based in Chicago, where he defends many Illinois hospitals and healthcare institutions against claims of medical malpractice. He has tried dozens of medical malpractice cases in multiple Illinois counties including Cook, DuPage, Will, Kane, Kankakee, St. Clair, and Vermilion.
His medical malpractice trial experience includes cases involving catastrophic birth injuries, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, organ transplant, cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, suicide, pediatrics, and nursing care. Ben has also defended Illinois hospitals in cases involving institutional negligence, hospital fires, product liability, spoliation of evidence, credentialing, premises liability and discovery disputes involving electronic medical records.
Ben has been A.V. Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating, since 2004 to the present. Ben has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” from 2003 to the present. The national organization ranks attorneys based on peer nominations that are then reviewed by an independent research team. He has
also been named as a “Leading Lawyer” since 2023.
