Michael T. Koptik
BIOGRAPHY
Mike Koptik joined Hall Prangle in 2002 as a member of its medical malpractice and commercial liability litigation departments. Mike focuses on medical malpractice litigation with an emphasis on the defense of behavioral health facilities. He has a wide range of litigation experience and has taken numerous cases to verdict in multiple jurisdictions. His cases have involved catastrophic injuries, including birth injuries, wrongful death, loss of limb and permanent disfigurement.
Mike also has represented various commercial clients in general liability claims involving work place injury and wrongful death. He has successfully obtained numerous summary judgments in cases involving apparent agents and causation.
Mike began his legal career an Assistant State's Attorney, gaining invaluable insight into the litigation process, especially those aspects pertaining to the investigation and analysis of cases. As a law student at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Law, then called the John Marshall Law School, Mike was a member of the John Marshall Moot Court and Trial Advocacy teams and received a scholarship for public service based on his work with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
Mike has been recognized as a “Leading Lawyer”, which determines the top lawyers who have proven themselves professional, ethical and experienced. The distinction has been earned by fewer than 5% of all lawyers licensed to practice in Illinois.
