HIGHLIGHTS

Leader of HPS’ office in Pensacola, Florida

BIOGRAPHY

Aaron Ryan has devoted his legal career to the defense of hospitals, nurses and physicians in medical malpractice litigation. That includes many cases involving birth trauma and catastrophic injuries to children and adults, as well as other medical issues ranging from mental health and suicide to cardiac and infectious disease. He is the leader of HPS’ Pensacola office.

Ryan has also successfully defended clients in matters related to premises liability, securing favorable outcomes for his clients both through successful defense at trial and also via summary judgment.

Ryan emphasizes collaboration in his client relationships, working with each client to first establish what a successful outcome looks like, then tailoring an appropriate course of action to meet that goal. Ryan also prizes communication, and consults clients frequently about strategic possibilities throughout the lifecycle of each case. His practice is also marked by efficiency, organization and diligence, which he considers essential traits in providing effective counsel and defense.

Ryan served from 2010 to 2018 as an elected member of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Character and Fitness Committee for the First Judicial District. That role involved meeting with applicants seeking admission to the Illinois Bar, and evaluating those applicants to ensure that they met the state’s standards for moral character and fitness before being granted permission to represent individuals, corporations and others in the State of Illinois.

Ryan has been repeatedly recognized as an Illinois Rising Star attorney, and in 2012 was honored among the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s annual “Forty Under 40” list of top rising attorneys.
